Britannia Preservation was asked by the owner’s insurance company to take a look at a basement kitchen in Ilkley, following heavy rainfall in January 2008.
The basement was flooded with stagnant, dirty water, 300 mm deep, which had also seeped into the fitted kitchen units. The damage was considerable and contractors stripped out the entire basement. We later learned that this house had flooded annually since being built in 2002.
We were asked to design and install waterproofing to stop the problem from reoccurring.
Our team fitted drainage channels and a twin-pump water removal system into the basement floor, and completed the protection by overlaying the walls and floor with cavity drain membrane. Finally, internal linings and finishes were reinstated and a new kitchen installed.

The entire room was stripped out, with all internal fixtures, fittings, and linings removed. The basement had to be thoroughly dried out before reinstatement works started. |

Britannia Preservation’s program of work created a beautiful kitchen, much to the delight of the owner. Despite the wetter, wintry weather of recent years the basement has remained perfectly dry since completion in 2008.
