The Property Care Association (PCA) was formerly part of the British Wood Preserving and Damp-proofing Association. It is the trade organisation representing specialists involved in damp proofing, timber preservation, structural maintenance, and flood remediation in the UK. The PCA provides advice to consumers and training to both PCA and non-PCA members. In addition, the PCA administers the surveying qualifications of CSRT and CSSW.
Britannia Preservation is a full member of the PCA having met the stringent entry criteria that requires organisations to comply with a strict code of conduct and to meet standards of excellence in all areas of their practices and work.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the premier organisation for the surveying professions, providing the leading qualification in land, property, and construction. Members of the RICS have to achieve and continue to demonstrate an exceptionally high standard of competence and integrity and adhere to a strict professional code of conduct.
Britannia Preservation are chartered building surveyors. In addition, we are pleased to have been awarded ‘Regulated by RICS’ status. RICS Regulation is responsible for ensuring that its members and firms meet the requirements of the RICS Rules of Conduct. To our knowledge, we are the only damp and timber treatment specialist in England to have achieved this standing.
The Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is the professional body for those specialising in the technology of building. It is represented on educational, codes and standards, legislative, technical, and other advisory bodies. The CABE provides the prime qualification 'Chatered Building Engineer', a title that reflects the professional expertise of its members. CABE members are obliged to abide by a strict code of professional conduct and ethical standards, and the Association's qualifications are recognised in the public and private sectors and throughout the construction industry.
Britannia Preservation is privileged to be a chartered member of CABE and actively endeavours to employ their principal rule of conduct: we always place the interests of our clients first.
The Society for the Environment endeavours to promote a sustainable environment and to be the leading and co-ordinating professional body in environmental matters. The society, through the licensing of professional bodies who award the Chartered Environmentalist qualification (CEnv), aims to influence government, policymakers, and opinion-formers on all aspects of the environment and sustainability. This aim is encapsulated in the Brundtland report of 1987:
"Sustainable development can be described as that which meets the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."
Britannia Preservation has a sustainability policy that includes many actions to meet the aims of the Society for the Environment.
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is a trade association established over 60 years ago to protect the interests of small and medium-sized building firms. Today, it is the largest trade association in the UK building industry. The FMB is independent and non-profit-making, lobbying continuously for members' interests at both national and local levels, but it also provides many benefits for consumers who can be assured that a member firm will meet strict criteria for membership.
Britannia Preservation undertakes its services professionally and with an exemplary record of customer service. It has to be accepted, though, that things can go wrong, and it is only fair that clients should be provided with a method to resolve any complaints. We have a formal complaints handling procedure and, if necessary, our clients can take advantage of the FMB 'Disputes Resolution and Complaints Procedure'. In practice, in over 25 years of trading, none of our clients has ever needed to use this process, but it is provided to demonstrate our commitment to outstanding customer service.
Formed as the GPT (Guarantee Protection Trust) in 1983, Guarantee Protection Insurance Ltd (GPI) provides insurance cover that can only be offered by specialist-approved contractors. The GPI is a Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulated company. The insurance comes into force if the issuing contractor is no longer trading and, subject to GPI terms and conditions, covers their liability to the insurance holder. Under these circumstances, the GPI arranges for another PCA approved contractor to rectify any problems under the guarantee, free of charge.
Trustmark is the Government backed initiative to help consumers find reliable and trustworthy tradesmen to carry out repairs inside and outside the home. Employing a firm that belongs to the Trustmark scheme carries many benefits for consumers:
• The firm's technical skills are independently checked through on-site inspections.
• The firm's quality of work, trading practices, and customer satisfaction are monitored.
• The firm's trading record and financial status is checked.
• The firm is able to offer insurance backed warranties for works carried out.
• Should it become necessary, there is a clear, user-friendly complaints procedure.
